Job Description

  • Lead and drive the General Ledger (GL) transformation agenda, overseeing finance transition initiatives, process optimisation programmes, and continuous improvement efforts to enhance operational effectiveness, control, and scalability across the organisation.
  • Collaborate with Global Process Owners, Shared Services stakeholders, and business partners to ensure GL processes are aligned with global standards, governance requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Strengthen the control environment by overseeing risk management activities, internal controls, and Risk and Control Matrix (RACM) compliance, while partnering with Internal Audit and key stakeholders to proactively identify and address control gaps.
  • Establish and maintain robust governance frameworks, policies, and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance, operational integrity, and sustainable process excellence across the General Ledger function.
  • Provide leadership in managing complex operational issues and stakeholder escalations, ensuring timely resolution, root cause remediation, and continuous service improvement.
  • Drive service excellence through effective performance management, leveraging KPIs, service metrics, and data-driven insights to enhance efficiency, quality, and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Own the GL service catalogue and operating model, identifying opportunities for standardisation, process harmonisation, and service enhancement across all in-scope entities and geographies.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, acting as a trusted business partner to align operational priorities with organisational objectives and strategic initiatives.
  • Lead initiatives to optimise and accelerate the month-end and year-end close processes, improving cycle times, reporting accuracy, and compliance while supporting timely business decision-making.
  • Provide strategic leadership and governance for General Ledger operations across all in-scope entities and countries, ensuring the delivery of consistent, high-quality services and achievement of agreed service levels.
  • Establish and drive a high-performance culture by setting clear objectives, performance expectations, and success measures aligned with functional and organisational goals.
  • Lead, coach, and develop managers and teams to foster accountability, strengthen technical and leadership capabilities, and enhance overall performance.
  • Develop and execute talent management strategies, including succession planning, leadership development, cross-functional exposure, and capability-building initiatives to ensure a sustainable talent pipeline.
  • Optimise workforce planning and resource allocation through effective recruitment, talent development, and cross-training programmes to support operational resilience and business growth.
  • Maintain overall accountability for attracting, developing, and retaining a high-performing General Ledger organisation that delivers operational excellence and supports the strategic objectives of the Shared Services Centre.
  • Continuously evaluate organisational structures, operating models, and resource allocation to ensure agility, efficiency, scalability, and alignment with evolving business requirements.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a recognised professional accounting qualification
  • Significant experience within a Finance Shared Services, Global Business Services (GBS), or multinational finance environment
  • Has min 3 years of leadership or management capacity.
  • Demonstrated success in building, leading, and developing high-performing teams, with strong experience in coaching, succession planning, talent development, and organisational capability building.
  • Extensive knowledge of General Ledger processes, financial close and reporting activities, balance sheet governance, accounting controls, and regulatory compliance requirements.
