The Project Engineer - Electrical will provide dedicated electrical engineering and project execution support for a brownfield development project in Port Klang.The role will be responsible for managing the electrical scope throughout the project lifecycle, from scope definition and design review through procurement, construction, testing, commissioning and project handover.

Job Description

  • Lead the electrical engineering scope for brownfield project activities, from design review and technical coordination through construction, commissioning and handover.
  • Review electrical designs, specifications and technical documentation covering power distribution, substations, switchgear, MCCs, cabling, earthing and protection systems.
  • Manage assigned electrical work packages, ensuring delivery in line with project scope, schedule, cost, quality and technical requirements.
  • Coordinate closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Procurement, contractors, consultants and vendors to ensure effective project execution and minimise disruption to existing plant operations.
  • Provide on-site technical support during construction, installation and brownfield modification activities, including resolution of engineering and constructability issues.
  • Support testing, commissioning, energisation and handover, ensuring systems are technically ready, compliant and supported by complete project documentation.
  • Manage contractor and consultant performance, including technical queries, work methods, progress, quality and compliance with project requirements.
  • Support procurement activities, including preparation of technical scopes, bid evaluations, vendor clarifications and review of equipment documentation.
  • Maintain strong HSSE and electrical safety standards, ensuring compliance with company engineering practices, applicable electrical codes and local regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and report project progress, risks, costs, schedule and change controls, providing timely escalation and mitigation of issues to ensure successful project delivery.



The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline is preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant engineering and project experience, preferably within an industrial environment.
  • Proven experience in electrical engineering design, construction, maintenance and/or project execution.
  • Experience within oil & gas, lubricants, chemicals, manufacturing, process plants or similar industrial environments is highly preferred.
  • Strong exposure to brownfield project execution, ideally involving modifications to existing operational facilities.
  • Practical knowledge of electrical systems including:
    • Power distribution
    • Substations
    • Switchgear
    • Motor Control Centres (MCC)
    • Motors and electrical drives
    • Cabling
    • Earthing
    • Electrical protection systems
  • Experience supporting electrical construction, testing and commissioning activities.
  • Exposure to hazardous area requirements and electrical safety within process or industrial facilities would be advantageous.
  • Experience managing engineering contractors, consultants and equipment vendors.
  • Familiarity with international electrical codes, local regulatory requirements and industrial engineering standards.
  • Project management qualifications would be advantageous, although demonstrated hands-on project delivery experience is equally valuable.
