About Our Client

A professional organisation within the manufacturing industry, based in Malaysia.

Job Description

  • Manage corporate governance matters, including Board documentation and records.
  • Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements, including sales, supplier, distribution and logistics contracts.
  • Oversee regulatory, product, labour, safety and environmental compliance across the Group.
  • Support HR and Operations on labour rights and employment law compliance.
  • Advise management on disputes, compliance investigations and regulatory matters.
  • Coordinate and liaise with external legal counsel and advisors.
  • Develop and implement legal and compliance policies, procedures and training.
  • Serve as the Group's Data Protection Officer (DPO) and oversee compliance with the PDPA and GDPR, including audits, training and regulatory liaison.
  • Support and lead other legal, compliance and corporate projects as required.



The Successful Applicant

A successful Head of Legal and Compliance should have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB) or equivalent.
  • At least 10 to 12 years' experience in legal, compliance, commercial and/or corporate affairs roles.
  • Experience in manufacturing, import/export, warehousing and/or distribution environments is preferred.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, drafting and documentation skills, with a proactive and business-oriented approach.
  • Proven experience advising management on strategic legal, compliance, governance and risk management matters.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and build a legal and compliance function, including policies, processes, governance frameworks and compliance programmes.
  • Proficient in both written and spoken Mandarin.
