The Legal Counsel will provide expert legal advice and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations within the automotive industry. This role requires a proactive individual to manage legal matters and support the company's operations in Selangor.

Job Description

  • Review and draft agreements to protect the operating units' legal interests and reduce exposure to legal or contractual risk.
  • Draft and vet responses to customer correspondence on behalf of the operating units.
  • Prepare documentation and reports related to ongoing legal matters.
  • Work with external counsel on litigation matters, including preparing or reviewing witness statements, statements of defence, and other court filings.
  • Keep the litigation database updated with the latest progress of court cases.
  • Provide clear, practical legal guidance to operating units on issues or queries raised.
  • Assist the Head of Legal with assigned legal tasks and projects.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Legal Counsel should have:

  • Holds a degree in Law (LLB) with at least 5-8 years of relevant experience.
  • Admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the Malaysian Bar.
  • Well-versed in drafting and reviewing tenancy, supply, service, confidentiality/NDAs, and a wide range of operational agreements.
  • Experienced in preparing and reviewing court documents for litigation matters.
  • Competent in drafting and reviewing defence statements for consumer tribunal proceedings.
  • Highly detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy in legal work.
  • Strong proficiency in written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia.
