Job Description

  • Manage and maintain database systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Monitor database security and implement measures to safeguard sensitive information.
  • Perform regular backups and recovery operations to protect data integrity.
  • Collaborate with the technology team to design and implement database solutions.
  • Analyze system requirements and troubleshoot database-related issues.
  • Optimize database performance through tuning and indexing techniques.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and company standards.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed documentation for database systems and processes.Administer, tune, and optimize PostgreSQL databases, including schema design, indexing strategy, performance tuning, and operational health (VACUUM, WAL, query plans).
  • Implement and manage high availability, replication, backup, and PITR strategies to ensure database reliability and meet RTO/RPO targets.
  • Deploy and operate PostgreSQL and related services in Azure containerized environments (AKS / Azure Container Apps), including image management, Helm deployments, and secure networking.
  • Build and maintain observability for database systems using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Azure Monitor, and log analytics to proactively identify performance and reliability issues.
  • Ensure strong security posture across database and containerized services, including IAM, least-privilege design, TLS enforcement, encryption, and secret management via Azure Key Vault.
  • Automate provisioning, configuration, and maintenance using Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform/Bicep) and CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps / GitHub Actions).
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, data, and platform teams to support schema evolution, optimize workloads, troubleshoot issues, and plan future capacity and architecture improvements.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Database Admin should have:

  • A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of database management systems and query languages.
  • Experience with database security protocols and data backup strategies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • The ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • A proactive approach to identifying and addressing database issues.
