Job Description

  • Lead and manage production and process engineering teams to achieve operational objectives.
  • Ensure manufacturing operations meet safety, quality, productivity, cost, and delivery targets.
  • Plan and prioritise production schedules in collaboration with planning and operations teams.
  • Monitor and control production-related expenditures, including tooling, consumables, and indirect materials.
  • Drive performance improvement initiatives aligned with Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Employee Engagement (SQDCE) goals.
  • Implement strategies to reduce scrap, minimise work-in-progress inventory, and improve productivity.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and subcontractors for tooling, jigs, and fixture development.
  • Ensure employees receive the necessary training and competency development to meet operational requirements.
  • Develop multi-skilled workforce capabilities to improve operational flexibility and efficiency.
  • Optimise manufacturing layouts and workflows to increase output and operational effectiveness.
  • Maintain compliance with company policies, quality standards, and workplace safety requirements.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, Value Stream Mapping, Layered Process Audits, and safety programmes.
  • Drive site-wide lean transformation and operational excellence projects.
  • Lead process engineering efforts to enhance manufacturing methods, quality, productivity, and cost performance.
  • Conduct process costing and provide technical input for commercial and pricing decisions.
  • Manage prototype and sample builds while providing application support to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) and establish new manufacturing capabilities.
  • Monitor and achieve KPIs related to production performance, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop team members to strengthen leadership capability and operational performance.
  • Build succession plans and develop future leaders within the organisation.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by management.



The Successful Applicant

A successful 'Production Manager' should have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Management, or a related technical field.
  • Additional qualifications in Operations Management or Business Management would be advantageous.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in high-volume or mass manufacturing environments.
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience managing and developing teams.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality engineering, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Hands-on experience with Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, Value Stream Mapping, and process optimisation initiatives.
  • Understanding of quality and environmental management systems such as IATF 16949 and ISO 14001.
  • Experience supporting process engineering, NPI, production planning, and operational excellence projects.
  • Background working within multinational manufacturing organisations would be preferred.
  • Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and team development capabilities.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to align operational performance with organisational objectives.
  • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.
