The Production Lead oversees daily production operations, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and quality through strong technical and people leadership. This role leads end‑to‑end operations across two manufacturing plants, managing line leaders and technicians while driving continuous improvement and modernising processes within a traditional operating environment.

Job Description

  • Lead end‑to‑end production operations across two plants, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant daily operations.
  • Manage and coach 10 line leaders and ~80 technicians across two sites to achieve consistent performance.
  • Ensure full compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards, driving a zero‑harm culture.
  • Plan, monitor, and optimize production schedules to meet delivery, cost, and quality targets.
  • Build trust and influence within a workforce accustomed to manual setups and legacy ways of working, including a partially unionised environment.
  • Drive a strong continuous improvement mindset focused on safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC).
  • Identify operational gaps and implement practical, shop‑floor‑ready solutions that improve productivity and reliability.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with engineering, maintenance, and management to resolve operational challenges and deliver results.
  • Oversee equipment maintenance and reliability initiatives to minimize downtime and sustain throughput.

The Successful Applicant

  • Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline
  • Strong background in Engineering and Manufacturing within a high‑volume FMCG environment
  • 6-10 years' experience in production, manufacturing, or operations leadership roles
  • Proven ability to manage end‑to‑end production operations and consistently achieve safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets
  • Demonstrated experience leading large shop‑floor teams, with strong people management skills and the ability to handle resistance to change
  • Solid knowledge of manufacturing safety, quality, and compliance standards
  • Hands‑on, practical leader with the flexibility be adaptable and solve real‑time operational problems
  • Experience driving continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean, Kaizen, TPM, or similar methodologies
  • Technical expertise in production equipment and processes, supported by a degree or diploma in Engineering or a related technical discipline
