Job Description

  • Serve as the primary legal advisor to the construction, renewable energy and projects businesses on project, commercial and operational matters.
  • Provide legal support throughout the project life-cycle, from development and procurement to construction, operations and project close-out.
  • Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of engineering, construction, EPC/EPCC, consultancy, procurement and commercial agreements.
  • Advise stakeholders on contractual risk allocation, liability exposure, warranties, claims, variations and dispute management.
  • Partner closely with project, engineering and procurement teams to ensure commercially sound and legally compliant contracting practices.
  • Support the structuring, negotiation and implementation of complex project and commercial arrangements.
  • Manage legal matters relating to construction claims, adjudication, arbitration, litigation and dispute resolution.
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments affecting construction, infrastructure, renewable energy and project-related activities.
  • Engage and oversee external legal counsel, ensuring effective management of legal risks, costs and outcomes.
  • Deliver legal training, develop contracting resources and promote legal risk awareness across the business.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Legal Counsel (Construction, Engineering & Projects) should have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Law (LLB) and qualified to practise in Malaysia.
  • At least 6 to 8 years of post-qualification experience in construction, engineering, projects or commercial law.
  • Proven experience drafting and negotiating construction and commercial contracts.
  • Strong understanding of contractual risk management, claims and dispute resolution.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication and negotiation skills.
  • Exposure to infrastructure, renewable energy, industrial development or large-scale projects is an advantage.
