Job Description

  • Provide legal advice and support to the business on a broad range of commercial and corporate matters.
  • Draft, review, negotiate, and manage various commercial agreements and legal documentation.
  • Manage and oversee litigation, disputes, and engagement with external counsel.
  • Advise stakeholders on legal risks and develop practical risk mitigation strategies.
  • Support compliance initiatives and ensure adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Partner closely with business units to provide commercially sound and solution-oriented legal guidance.
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments and assess their impact on the organisation.
  • Drive improvements to legal processes, policies, templates, and operational efficiencies.
  • Support corporate governance matters and contribute to strategic business initiatives.
  • Collaborate with regional and cross-functional teams on legal projects and business objectives.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Deputy Manager, Legal should have:

  • LL.B degree and admission to the Malaysian Bar (or equivalent legal qualification).
  • 6 PQE and above, preferably in-house and/or private practice.
  • Strong experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts.
  • Solid knowledge of corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters.
  • Experience managing litigation, disputes, and external legal counsel.
  • Strong risk assessment and problem-solving skills with a commercial mindset.
  • Ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice to stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Able to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of partnering effectively with cross-functional teams.
