Before PageGroup, where were you before and what were your specialisations?

I was a returning Malaysian who spent 12 years in Perth, Australia, where I completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Double Master’s Degree in Human Resources and International Business. I was working as a recruitment consultant in one of the leading recruitment agencies based in Perth specialising in engineering, construction and the project services industries.

Why did you join PageGroup and what your current role is?

I had intentions of returning to Malaysia with the desire to be part of a globally recognised multinational organisation. When I first researched on PageGroup, I found that the values they practiced were similar to my own personal values. I came across a job vacancy for Michael Page on the PageGroup website and did not think twice about applying. Currently, I am a Manager for the Procurement Supply Chain division specialising in the FMCG industry.

How did/have your past experience(s) helped you in your current role?

Armed with a Master’s Degree in Human Resources Management, it has equipped me to have a theoretical knowledge of human behaviour. My past experience in recruitment has significantly helped me understand the process of recruitment. It was PageGroup who further honed my skills and maximised my truest potential.

Successes / achievements that you have accomplished during your time at PageGroup

I started as an Associate Consultant and have been promoted twice during my tenure at PageGroup over a span of two years. This has been a great personal achievement as my initial goal was to reach the current position I am in. I would definitely have to credit passion, patience and persistence in reaching my desired goals and objectives.

How have you grown with PageGroup?

I started with PageGroup as Associate Consultant in a newly launched discipline, Procurement and Supply Chain and have been promoted twice. The in-house training that PageGroup provides are very structured and well planned and this has contributed significantly to my growth with the organisation. Every one of us in the Procurement and Supply Chain team is very open in sharing business information with each other. We have learnt from each other’s strengths and developed our own style when it comes to the recruitment process.

What are the most rewarding parts of your job?

The most rewarding part of my job would be the ability to interact with numerous individuals and deal with various personalities. It is a wonderful feeling to be able to place candidates and watch them grow within the organisation I referred them to.

What advice would you give to graduates who are looking to join the recruitment industry?

It is a very rewarding industry to be a part of and my main advice to graduates would be to maintain patience and persistence as reaching specific goals can take time. With that said, you will develop your own style after a while which will help build a seamless process flow. It does not matter if you have worked in recruitment before as long as you are determined and motivated, the benefits and profits will follow.
