Job Description

  • Lead and continuously improve SMT manufacturing processes to achieve high levels of product quality, yield performance, and operational efficiency.
  • Optimise process parameters and establish effective controls across SMT operations, including printing, placement, reflow, and inspection processes.
  • Drive yield improvement and defect reduction initiatives through data analysis, root cause investigations, and structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities by ensuring process readiness, manufacturability, and successful product ramp-up.
  • Conduct process qualifications, validations, and capability assessments to maintain robust and repeatable manufacturing performance.
  • Monitor manufacturing KPIs and implement corrective actions to improve quality, productivity, and cost performance.
  • Act as the technical subject matter expert for SMT-related manufacturing issues, providing timely troubleshooting and resolution.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams including Production, Quality, Test Engineering, and Supply Chain to address operational challenges and support business objectives.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, quality standards, and control plans to ensure compliance with company and industry requirements.
  • Lead continuous improvement, cost reduction, and technology enhancement initiatives through the evaluation of new materials, equipment, and manufacturing solutions.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers and technicians, fostering technical capability and best practices across the organisation.



The Successful Applicant

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related Engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Process Engineering within a semiconductor, electronics, or advanced manufacturing environment.
  • Proven hands-on experience with SMT manufacturing processes, including solder paste printing, component placement, reflow soldering, SPI, and AOI.
  • Demonstrated success in driving yield improvement, process optimisation, defect reduction, and manufacturing excellence initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of quality and process engineering methodologies such as SPC, DOE, PFMEA, Control Plans, and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Experienced in process qualification, validation, and continuous improvement within high-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Effective communicator who can collaborate and influence stakeholders across multiple functions and levels.
  • Natural leader with the ability to mentor technical teams and drive projects independently.
  • Experience supporting NPI activities and working within regulated quality environments such as ISO or IATF standards would be advantageous.
