Job Description

  • Develop and enhance Java-based backend applications supporting financial business operations.
  • Collaborate with business and IT teams to gather requirements and deliver effective solutions.
  • Support production environments by monitoring systems, resolving incidents, and performing root-cause analysis.
  • Write clean, maintainable code and improve application performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Perform testing, debugging, and contribute to improved automation and code quality.
  • Maintain technical documentation and support continuous improvement across the development lifecycle.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Senior Java Developer should have:

  • At least 6-8 years of proven experience as a Java backend developer, including production support exposure.
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, and Java frameworks (e.g. Spring, Hibernate).
  • Experience with SQL and relational databases (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs, JUnit testing, and version control tools (Git or RTC).
  • Experience working within Agile or Waterfall development environments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyse and resolve production incidents.
  • Effective communication skills to work with business users and cross-functional IT teams.
  • ITIL certification is preferred
