Job Description

  • Own and manage end-to-end L2 Network Operations, including Incident, Problem, and Change Management.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for major incidents, critical outages, and service-impacting events.
  • Monitor and drive SLA and KPI compliance while identifying opportunities for continuous service improvement.
  • Lead operational governance activities, including daily operations reviews, service reporting, and stakeholder updates.
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for major and recurring incidents, implementing preventive and corrective actions to reduce recurrence.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with L1, L3, vendors, OEMs, and cross-functional teams to ensure efficient issue resolution and service delivery.
  • Manage team workload, prioritization, and task allocation to maintain operational effectiveness.
  • Ensure adherence to ITIL-aligned processes, governance standards, and audit requirements.
  • Drive automation initiatives, process optimization, documentation improvements, and knowledge management practices.
  • Provide regular communication and status reporting to business stakeholders and customers.
  • Deliver advanced technical support and troubleshooting across routing and switching technologies, including BGP, OSPF, MPLS, and VLANs.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex network performance issues, service disruptions, and infrastructure bottlenecks.
  • Review, validate, and support the implementation of network changes and enhancements.
  • Govern periodic health checks of managed network devices and infrastructure.
  • Ensure network devices maintain compliance with approved software, IOS, and configuration standards.
  • Proactively identify operational risks and develop mitigation plans to minimize service impact.
  • Partner extensively with OEMs and vendors to support product lifecycle management and technology roadmap initiatives.
  • Support and coordinate LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, VPN, and firewall-related activities with internal SMEs.
  • Perform deep-dive analysis on recurring incidents, traffic trends, and top-talker events to improve network performance and stability.
  • Drive monitoring effectiveness through noise reduction, event correlation, and alert optimization initiatives.
  • Review network configurations and recommend improvements to ensure optimal performance, stability, and resilience.
  • Support capacity planning activities and network enhancement initiatives aligned to business requirements.
  • Provide technical mentoring and guidance to L1 support teams.
  • Review and maintain SOPs, knowledge articles, operational documentation, and runbooks.
  • Conduct periodic inventory reviews and ensure CMDB accuracy in collaboration with relevant teams.
  • Participate in Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and Disaster Recovery (DR) exercises, including documentation and follow-up actions.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and provide leadership during critical outage and incident situations.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Junior - Network L2 Ops and SME should have:

  • 3-5 years of experience in a Network Operations, L2 Support, or Network Operations Lead role.
  • Strong hands-on experience in Incident, Problem, and Change Management processes.
  • Proven experience managing major incidents, critical outages, and escalation handling.
  • Strong expertise in routing and switching technologies, including:
    • BGP
    • OSPF
    • MPLS
    • VLANs
  • Experience supporting and troubleshooting:
    • LAN/WAN environments
    • SD-WAN solutions
    • VPN technologies
    • Firewall environments
  • Demonstrated ability to perform advanced network troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
  • Experience reviewing and implementing network changes within controlled environments.
  • Knowledge of SLA/KPI management and operational service delivery governance.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical issues in business-friendly language.
  • Experience working with vendors, OEMs, and cross-functional technical teams.
  • Strong documentation, reporting, and knowledge management practices.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers and supporting operational team development.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced operational environment and support on-call requirements.
