Job Description

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of hardware and electrical engineering solutions for complex projects.
  • Support project planning activities, including scheduling, resource allocation, and execution strategies.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to global engineering teams.
  • Manage project-related business responsibilities, including budgeting, financial oversight, and resource planning.
  • Ensure teams have access to leading-edge tools, software, and equipment aligned with business requirements.
  • Review customer specifications and serve as a key technical contact when required.
  • Evaluate technical trade-offs and recommend the most effective engineering solutions.
  • Develop and execute system deployment and implementation strategies.
  • Lead strategic engineering initiatives and global project rollouts.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, vendors, and external partners.
  • Research emerging technologies and translate concepts into practical engineering solutions.
  • Design, modify, and implement hardware systems according to engineering standards and customer requirements.
  • Monitor industry developments, market trends, and regulatory requirements.
  • Resolve complex technical challenges through innovative problem-solving.
  • Work closely with manufacturing, testing, supply chain, reliability, simulation, and industrial design teams.
  • Recommend product and system improvements to enhance performance, quality, and manufacturability.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across engineering processes and product development activities.



The Successful Applicant

A successful Engineering Director, Hardware Design should have:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Hardware Design, Electronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 20 years of relevant engineering experience within hardware, electrical, or product development environments.
  • Proven experience leading large-scale engineering projects from concept through production.
  • Extensive experience managing and developing engineering teams.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with experience guiding global and cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated success in project planning, execution, and resource management.
  • Experience overseeing budgets, financial planning, and operational performance.
  • Strong customer-facing experience, including reviewing specifications and managing technical relationships.
  • Ability to analyse complex technical challenges and develop practical solutions.
  • Experience working closely with manufacturing, testing, supply chain, and quality functions.
  • Skilled in stakeholder management across customers, suppliers, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices, engineering standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience leading strategic engineering initiatives and technology deployment projects.
  • Background in multinational or global business environments is highly preferred.
  • Strong communication, team-building, coaching, and talent development skills.
  • Experience recruiting, training, and mentoring engineering professionals.
  • Ability to drive innovation, continuous improvement, and long-term organisational growth.
