Job Description

Analyst Enablement & Stakeholder Collaboration

· Work directly and regularly with the business to understand data needs and translate them into engineered solutions

· Automate and properly architect pipelines that analysts currently run manually

· Build Power BI dashboards and paginated reports from requirements gathered with stakeholders

· Be a trusted technical partner to the business - approachable, communicative, and outcome-focused

Pipeline Development & Integrations

· Design, build, and maintain data pipelines and integrations between core business applications

· Contribute to our master data management solution, ensuring consistent and reliable data flow across systems

· Replace manual data processes with robust, testable, automated pipelines

Data Platform & Architecture

· Build and maintain lakehouse solutions and analytical data warehouses on Microsoft Fabric and Azure SQL

· Contribute to platform design decisions with an eye on scalability and long-term maintainability

· Optimise existing pipelines and data models for performance and reliability

AI & Advanced BI (Scaling Phase)

· Support the build-out of LLM-driven BI capabilities as the team moves toward conversational, query-driven data access

· Contribute to the design and delivery of AI-augmented analytics on top of the unified Fabric dataset

· Help define what "intelligent data access" looks like for our analysts and clients

Quality & Governance

· Contribute to data governance practices including access controls and data quality standards

· Collaborate with the Senior Data Engineer and Head of Data to ensure solutions align with broader architectural goals

The Successful Applicant

A successful Data Engineer should have:

Required

· 5+ years of hands-on data engineering experience

· Strong T-SQL and Azure SQL DB skills, including query optimisation and best-practice database design

· Experience with Azure Data Factory or an equivalent ELT platform

· Working knowledge of Microsoft Fabric or similar lakehouse tooling - PySpark, notebooks, and pipeline development

· Familiarity with Azure DevOps and Git within CI/CD workflows

· Proven ability to work directly with business stakeholders and analysts - translating requirements into technical solutions

· Excellent written and spoken English

Desirable

· Power BI experience including data modelling and DAX

· Exposure to master data management concepts or tooling

· Python and/or PowerShell scripting

· Familiarity with Azure Functions or App Services

· Experience with LLMs or AI-augmented analytics tooling

· Background in maritime, commodities, or global trade
