SMT Process Engineer

This role is responsible for end-to-end ownership of SMT equipment performance, maintenance, and process optimisation within a high-volume manufacturing environment. The engineer will also drive process improvements, support NPI builds, and lead quality and automation initiatives aligned with Industry 4.0 standards.

Job Description

  • Equipment Ownership & Performance
    • Manage SMT equipment (printer, SPI, pick & place, AOI, reflow ovens)
    • Drive uptime, OEE, and continuous equipment reliability
    • Lead preventive maintenance and troubleshooting activities
  • Process Engineering & NPI
    • Support new product introduction with full SMT setup
    • Optimise soldering, placement accuracy, and thermal profiles
    • Perform capability studies (Cp/Cpk), MSA, and GR&R
  • Automation & Digitalisation
    • Integrate MES/SAP systems and machine connectivity
    • Support Industry 4.0 initiatives and data-driven improvements
  • Quality & Compliance
    • Lead root-cause analysis for SMT defects (e.g. tombstoning, bridging)
    • Drive CAPA and ensure IPC standards compliance
    • Participate in audits and customer quality requirements



The Successful Applicant

  • Degree in Engineering (Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics) or strong SMT experience
  • 2-5 years of hands-on SMT equipment/process engineering experience
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Stencil design, solder paste, PCBA processes
    • SPI analysis, thermal profiling, Cp/Cpk
    • IPC standards (IPC-A-610, IPC-7351)
  • Proven troubleshooting skills across electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and software systems
  • Exposure to automation, MES, and Industry 4.0 is highly advantageous
