Job Description

This role holds full accountability for the end-to-end retail business in Malaysia, overseeing commercial performance, operational excellence, and strategic growth initiatives. The successful candidate will lead a large organization while partnering closely with regional and global stakeholders to deliver transformation and sustained business performance.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Own the overall retail P&L, setting strategic direction and delivering sustainable revenue growth, profitability, and market share expansion.
  • Provide strong commercial and operational leadership, ensuring alignment of business priorities and consistent execution across all retail touchpoints nationwide.
  • Lead the elevation of retail excellence, including store operations, customer experience, service standards, and in-store productivity optimisation.
  • Drive end-to-end business transformation initiatives, including brand repositioning, simplification of product portfolios, and adoption of new operating frameworks.
  • Build, lead, and inspire a high-performing leadership team, fostering a culture of accountability, agility, and continuous improvement across all levels.
  • Champion a consumer-first mindset, ensuring that retail strategies and execution are aligned with evolving customer expectations and market trends.
  • Collaborate closely with regional and global stakeholders, ensuring strong alignment to broader strategic objectives and leveraging best practices across markets.
  • Strengthen omnichannel integration, partnering cross-functionally to create a seamless and consistent customer journey across physical and digital touchpoints.
  • Oversee merchandising and assortment strategies, ensuring clarity in product offering, inventory optimization, and strong in-store storytelling.
  • Drive organizational effectiveness, including talent development, succession planning, capability building, and fostering a high-performance culture.


The Successful Applicant

We are seeking a seasoned retail leader with strong commercial acumen and a proven track record of leading large-scale operations through growth and transformation. The ideal candidate brings a balance of strategic thinking and execution excellence, with the ability to influence across a matrixed organization while building and inspiring high-performing teams. You are comfortable navigating complexity, challenging legacy practices, and driving meaningful change in a fast-evolving retail environment.
Key requirements include:

  • Extensive experience in retail leadership roles, managing multi-store operations with full P&L accountability.
  • Proven ability to drive business growth, turnaround, or transformation initiatives in a consumer-facing environment.
  • Strong people leadership and team development capabilities, with experience managing large and diverse teams.
  • Solid background in commercial strategy and merchandising, with the ability to translate insights into action.
  • Experience operating within a regional or global matrix structure, with strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Highly data-driven and results-oriented, with sharp commercial instincts and disciplined execution.
  • Background in fashion, apparel, or consumer retail sectors; experience in category-driven businesses is advantageous.
  • Agile, proactive, and comfortable leading change in a legacy environment undergoing transformation.
