The Project Manager is responsible for leading complex engineering projects from proposal stage through to successful delivery and close‑out. The Project Manager acts as the key customer interface while coordinating cross‑functional teams to deliver projects on time, within scope and budget.

Job Description

    • Manage end‑to‑end project delivery from initiation to close‑out
    • Develop and present initial commercial and technical proposals
    • Acknowledge customer purchase orders and ensure compliance with agreed project terms
    • Coordinate internal and external phase gate reviews and project kick‑off meetings
    • Act as the primary customer interface and maintain ongoing project communication
    • Prepare and submit regular project status updates to stakeholders
    • Lead internal project team meetings and customer review meetings
    • Coordinate and monitor engineering design, build and implementation activities
    • Define and manage project resource requirements (human and material)
    • Proactively identify risks, issues and constraints, and drive mitigation actions
    • Track and manage scope changes through formal change control documentation
    • Produce and maintain standard project management deliverables including dashboards and reports
    • Conduct project close‑out sessions to capture lessons learned
    • Support projects requiring domestic and international travel



The Successful Applicant

A successful Project Manager should have:

    • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline
    • 5-8 years' project management experience within automation or equipment manufacturing environments
    • Strong understanding of structured project management methodologies and tools
    • Proven experience managing complex, multi‑disciplinary engineering projects
    • Ability to manage change requests, service requests and contractual variations
    • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑making capabilities
    • Strong stakeholder management, negotiation and customer engagement skills
    • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
    • Confident communicator with strong presentation and documentation skills
    • Experience working across matrixed and geographically distributed teams
    • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and MS Project
    • Project management certification required (PMP, CAPM or PRINCE2)
    • Fluent in Japanese and English (written and spoken)
    • German language capability is advantageous
