About Our Client



An established EMS (Electronics Manufacturing Services) company in Malaysia is looking for a Director of Commodity Management to lead its procurement team. The company is focused on strengthening its global position through strong supplier partnerships and supply chain excellence.

In this role, you will manage a team responsible for sourcing, supplier selection, and overall supplier performance. You will oversee pricing, contracts, and supplier capacity, while ensuring reliable supply and cost competitiveness.

You will also lead supplier development, drive cost reduction initiatives, and handle key negotiations with major suppliers. Working closely with internal teams, you will ensure procurement strategies support business goals and new product needs.

Overall, this role is responsible for building strong supplier relationships, improving performance, and driving an efficient, cost-effective supply chain.

Job Description

  • Lead the overall commodity management strategy to ensure cost efficiency, supply continuity, and alignment with business goals
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, driving performance improvements in quality, delivery, and pricing
  • Oversee sourcing decisions, including supplier selection, qualification, and ongoing evaluation across global supply bases
  • Drive cost optimization initiatives through negotiations, value engineering, and market benchmarking
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, operations, program management) to support new product and business requirements
  • Identify and mitigate supply chain risks, ensuring resilience and continuity in a dynamic market environment
  • Develop and mentor the procurement team, strengthening capabilities and driving a high-performance culture



The Successful Applicant

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in commodity management or strategic procurement within a complex manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of global supplier markets, including pricing trends, supply-demand dynamics, and emerging technologies
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional collaboration and drive alignment across engineering, operations, and business teams
  • Skilled in managing multiple priorities while maintaining focus on both strategic initiatives and operational execution
  • Solid commercial and technical acumen, with the ability to interpret product requirements and cost drivers
  • Demonstrated experience in leading high-impact negotiations and delivering measurable cost improvements
  • Strong leadership capability with experience developing, mentoring, and managing high-performing teams across regions
