Job Description

  • Lead the protection and governance of sensitive and personal data across the organisation.
  • Advise stakeholders on privacy risk assessments, including DPIAs, and recommend practical risk mitigation strategies.
  • Identify, assess, and manage data privacy risks arising from new business initiatives, technologies, and projects.
  • Develop, review, and enhance data privacy frameworks, policies, and procedures to ensure strong governance practices.
  • Ensure compliance with evolving regulatory requirements, emerging technologies, and industry best practices in data protection.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on data privacy, protection, and ethical data use, providing clear and practical guidance to stakeholders.
  • Support the integration of privacy and ethical considerations into business processes and data-driven initiatives.
  • Collaborate closely with Legal, Compliance, Risk, Information Security, and Business teams to ensure consistent privacy governance.
  • Design and deliver training, awareness programmes, and communication initiatives to strengthen employee understanding of data protection obligations.
  • Serve as a liaison for regulatory and data protection authorities, supporting responses to enquiries, audits, consultations, and compliance matters.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Data Ethics and Privacy Manager should have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Information Management, or a related field, with strong academic and professional foundations in data privacy or governance.
  • At least 5 to 6 years of experience in data protection, privacy, compliance, or governance, including hands-on experience managing compliance programmes.
  • Strong understanding of regional data protection laws and regulatory frameworks, particularly across Southeast Asia.
  • Relevant professional certifications such as CIPP, CIPM, or equivalent, with knowledge of emerging technologies including cloud, AI, blockchain, and open banking considered an advantage.
  • Prior experience within financial services, digital, or fintech environments, with the ability to operate effectively in technology-driven organisations.
