Job Description

  • Oversee daily workshop operations to ensure effective use of manpower, tools and equipment, timely job completion and adherence to quality standards
  • Lead, motivate and develop the technical team by allocating work, monitoring performance and providing ongoing coaching and training
  • Provide hands‑on technical support in diagnosing and resolving complex mechanical, electrical and electronic issues related to trucks
  • Maintain a high level of technical expertise across truck systems including engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, steering, suspension, braking systems, electrical and electronic systems, EBS, BS6/Euro‑norm engines, air‑conditioning and hydraulics
  • Plan workshop schedules, prioritise workloads and closely monitor job progress to meet delivery timelines
  • Ensure proper use, maintenance and availability of tools and equipment while managing spare parts inventory and coordinating with suppliers
  • Monitor workshop costs, reduce rework and downtime, and drive continuous improvements in productivity and efficiency
  • Ensure a safe working environment by enforcing safety standards and compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Prepare, review and analyse workshop reports covering productivity, job cards, team performance, parts consumption and warranty claims

The Successful Applicant

A successful Technical Manager should have:

    • SPM / Diploma / Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
    • Minimum 8-10 years' hands‑on experience in truck service and maintenance
    • At least 3-5 years in a supervisory or leadership role within a workshop environment
    • Strong technical knowledge of truck systems including:
      • Engine, transmission, clutch and differential
      • Steering, suspension and braking systems
      • Electrical, electronics and EBS systems
      • BS6 / Euro‑norm engines
      • Air‑conditioning and hydraulic systems
    • Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex mechanical and electronic issues
    • Experience in workshop planning, job scheduling and resource allocation
    • Strong people management, coaching and team development skills
    • Cost‑conscious mindset with focus on reducing downtime and rework
    • Good communication, reporting and customer handling skills
