About Our Client

A leading EMS (Electronics Manufacturing Services) company in Malaysia is seeking an experienced Senior NPI Buyer to support their rapidly expanding operations in the Northern Region. As the organisation continues to strengthen its market position and enhance global competitiveness, they are investing heavily in procurement excellence, supplier optimisation, and robust materials readiness for new product introduction (NPI) programs.

As part of their next phase of growth, the company is looking for a highly capable and proactive supply chain professional who can handle NPI purchasing activities, ensure timely sourcing of new components, drive supplier performance, and support engineering and program teams throughout the prototype, pilot run, and mass‑production transition phases. This role will be instrumental in ensuring material readiness, mitigating supply risks, enhancing cost competitiveness, and enabling smooth NPI execution aligned with customer and internal timelines.

Job Description

  • Review BRP reports, analyse suggested orders, execute purchasing activities (RFQ, RFI, negotiations, cost/price analysis), and maintain accurate procurement data in all systems.
  • Monitor and improve supplier delivery, quality, and logistics performance; ensure continuous communication to resolve issues (delivery delays, DMR/GR discrepancies, quality or payment matters) and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Develop deep knowledge of assigned commodities, supplier capabilities, technologies, and manufacturing processes to ensure effective expediting, cost control, and strategic sourcing decisions.
  • Collaborate with planning and demand teams to understand real-time requirements, manage inventory through push-outs/reschedules/cancellations, and maintain stock levels aligned with business needs.
  • Support NPI project teams in material readiness, supplier engagement, and RMA/DMR processes while adhering to all organisational standards for quality, safety, compliance, and 5S practices

The Successful Applicant

  • Minimum 6-8 years of experience in a manufacturing or New Product Introduction (NPI) environment, with strong exposure to fast‑paced, high‑mix production settings.
  • Solid working knowledge of SAP and familiarity with procurement systems, processes, and best practices, with the ability to recommend improvements for efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Hands-on experience managing PCBA or High-Level Assembly (HLA) purchasing is highly preferred, along with strong understanding of component technologies and supply chain dynamics.
  • Proven ability to coordinate or lead commodity groups or projects, with strong communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration skills. Demonstrated supervisory or leadership capability is an added advantage.
  • Ability to support the Purchasing Manager in driving team outcomes, contributing to procurement strategies, and ensuring alignment with overall sourcing and operational goals.

What's on Offer

  • Be part of a globally recognized automotive brand.
  • Work in a dynamic, innovative environment with opportunities for growth.
  • Competitive remuneration and benefits package.
