The Safety Officer will be responsible to drive a proactive safety culture while ensuring 100% compliance with Malaysian statutory and regulatory requirements. This role acts as the key authority on EHS governance, advanced risk management, and continuous safety improvement across operations.

Job Description

  • Serve as the primary authority on Malaysian EHS legislation including OSHA, DOE, and USECHH
  • Advise management on statutory obligations and execute compliance actions to maintain full legal standing
  • Chair the Safety Committee and lead initiatives that promote a proactive safety culture
  • Coach employees and contractors using Kaizen and Safety Dojo principles to embed behavioral safety
  • Lead the development, review, and continuous improvement of HIRADC
  • Provide technical safety input for new projects, processes, and machinery
  • Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and site walkabouts with firm enforcement of standards
  • Identify unsafe acts and conditions, implementing immediate corrective actions
  • Plan and standardize safety inductions, toolbox talks, and emergency response drills
  • Ensure workforce readiness for site-specific emergency scenarios
  • Act as Lead Investigator for accidents and near-misses
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis and implement preventive corrective actions
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities including DOSH and DOE
  • Ensure subcontractors fully comply with project and corporate HSE requirements
  • Maintain accurate safety documentation, PPE records, and compliance reports
  • Ensure full audit readiness for internal, external, ISO, and regulatory inspections

The Successful Applicant

  • Valid DOSH Green Book registration
  • Diploma or Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, or related field
  • 5-10 years of experience in HSE roles within Malaysia
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA, EQA, USECHH, and ISO 45001
  • Proven expertise in HIRADC, safety audits, and incident investigation with RCA
  • Ability to forecast safety trends and plan long-term HSE initiatives
  • Strong presentation and reporting skills for senior management
  • Firm, disciplined leadership style with strong stakeholder and subcontractor management skills
  • High resilience with the ability to make sound decisions during emergencies
