Job Description

  • Build and support automated data pipelines and curated datasets (data products) on Azure Databricks, applying software engineering best practices such as version control, modular design, testing, and CI/CD.
  • Implement reliable ingestion and transformation logic with strong data quality controls, observability, and operational monitoring to ensure trusted data is available to analytics and downstream consumers
  • Continuously improve reliability, performance, and cost through automation, troubleshooting, and production support.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve data-related issues promptly.
  • Support data-driven decision-making across the organization.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and trends in data engineering.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Data Engineer should have:

  • Strong Python and SQL skills, including experience developing and optimizing Spark workloads (partitioning, caching, cluster/job tuning)
  • Experience applying DataOps/DevOps practices to data products: Git-based version control, CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring/alerting, and release automation (Azure DevOps or GitHub)
  • Experience with big data frameworks, data warehouses, and ETL processes.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms and tools for data storage and processing.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
