Job Description

  • Continuously assess the company's Risk Framework to ensure alignment with relevant requirements from Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), local risk policies, and Company's adherence to statutory and regulatory mandates, including Company's Group Governance Manual, as well as local regulatory stipulations.
  • Establish criteria for the company's risk data needs, reporting benchmarks, and methodologies for determining priorities, while crafting forward-looking risk reports.
  • Spearhead routine reviews, enhancements, and upkeep of both the department and Company's Risk Register
  • Oversees, evaluates, and tests the effectiveness of periodic risk assessments conducted by risk coordinators, ensuring completeness and adequacy of risk information.
  • Leads, provides guidance, and maintains regular contact with risk coordinators for tracking implementation progress of risk mitigation/control measures and identifying new risks and Incident Management processes.
  • Independently reviews and assesses current operational procedures for ongoing enhancement.
  • Identifies opportunities for enterprise-wide risk mitigation through centralized controls and processes, while bolstering comprehensive risk management capabilities within the risk function.
  • Leads and advises on evaluating and monitoring potential contagion risks stemming from external parties (outsourcing and distribution partners) and emerging risks.
  • Provides comprehensive risk management counsel throughout the organization.
  • Prepares Risk Management reports for presentation to management and the Board of the Risk Management Committee.
  • Organizes and manages risk governance training and awareness initiatives across the organization.
  • Performs any additional duties as directed by the Chief Risk Officer or Head of Department.

The Successful Applicant

  • Degree in Accounting / Finance/ Actuarial Science or higher or of equivalent recognition.
  • Preferably with 8-10 years related working experience in the Insurance Industry. Further experience in ICAAP, ORSA or capital management, Third Party Risk Management would be well regarded.
  • Ability to translate data into meaningful information for decision making
  • Well versed with laws & regulations by BNM and MTA
  • Good leadership and communication skills
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • IT literate and well versed in Microsoft office suite; specially MS Word, MS PowerPoint and MS Excel
  • Able to work under pressure and deliver within tight deadlines
  • Able to work independently taking ownership and in a team setting
  • Able to work closely with multiple teams across the Company
  • Proficiency in English is a key requirement. Fluent communication and writing skills in English is a must and Bahasa Malaysia would be an added advantage.
