Job Description

  • Develop control systems for machines that meet CE standards and local safety regulations.
  • Prepare detailed Electronics Circuit Diagrams (ECD) for serial production, customer upgrades, and custom machine designs tailored to specific customer requirements.
  • Analyse electrical processes and components to identify weaknesses, providing supporting data and calculations to drive improvements.
  • Collaborate with business management, sales, assembly, internal R&D teams, procurement, and suppliers to discuss product development ideas.
  • Conduct market research to evaluate similar products and their functionality.
  • Redesign equipment to enhance functionality, reduce lead time, manage obsolescence, or lower costs.
  • Create comprehensive design projects, specification sheets, and test instructions for new processes and parts.
  • Present product designs and prototypes to management, sales, or customers.
  • Oversee the engineering of product prototypes to ensure they align with design specifications and functionality.
  • Develop and distribute Engineering Change Notices (ECN) to ensure all relevant departments and personnel are informed of changes.
  • Test and document prototype products to assess functionality, ease of use, and longevity.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve product or equipment issues internally (assembly, service, carrier tape production, inter-plant support) and externally (customers), providing remote or on-site support.
  • Conduct and document training for assembly teams, service, carrier tape production, sales teams, and customers.
  • Work with project managers to allocate resources effectively, track progress, and ensure timely completion of tasks and projects.
  • Implement 5S activities in your workspace regularly and promote them within relevant R&D offices.
  • Take on the role of internal project manager for development and evaluation projects when assigned.
  • Prepare documents analysing critical issues and offer solutions for corrective and preventive actions.
  • Participate in hands-on assembly work in the assembly and carrier tape departments when required.
  • Assist in the selection and purchasing of parts, providing technical support to clarify questions and specifications with suppliers.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by superiors.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Senior Electronic Design Engineer should have:

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within R&D or across departments.
  • Proficient in E-CAD systems such as Siggraph, Or CAD, and Microsoft Office tools, with experience in database management using ProFile and P2.
  • Proficient in English, both written and spoken.
  • Familiar with relevant regulations, laws, machine design standards, and norms.
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in teams and foster collaboration.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on precision.
  • Skilled in problem-solving and finding effective solutions.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Adherence to procedures, standards, and maintaining proper documentation.
  • Effective and adaptable time management skills.
  • Able to perform well under time constraints and pressure.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Good stress management capabilities.
  • Open to feedback, accepting failures, and working towards continuous improvement.
  • Creative with the ability to innovate and think outside the box.
  • Hands-on experience with PLC programming and Motion Control systems.
  • Proficient in TwinCAT and E-CAD tools, with the ability to interpret and create electrical schematics; familiarity with SAP BOM management is a plus.
