The RTR Team Lead will be responsible for leading the Record-to-Report (RTR) team in the Accounting & Finance department of an industrial/manufacturing company, ensuring a smooth and efficient financial operation. This role requires strong leadership skills, experience in RTR processes and a solid understanding of the industrial/manufacturing industry.

Job Description

  • Provide leadership and subject matter expertise in general accounting processes, ensuring compliance with corporate requirements and accounting standards to support management decision-making.
  • Oversee compliance with internal controls while delivering services within agreed performance levels.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop team members to maintain high standards of financial control, compliance, and best practices.
  • Supervise daily operations within the General Ledger function, ensuring timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting reports for relevant entities.
  • Ensure financial accounting activities adhere to company policies, local regulations, and accounting standards.
  • Participate in internal and external audits, verifying the accuracy of financial information and preparing supporting documentation.
  • Develop audit schedules and coordinate documentation for compliance reviews.
  • Establish clear goals for the team, monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), and take appropriate follow-up actions as needed.
  • Provide technical expertise in the RTR process, resolving escalations and complex queries effectively.
  • Lead initiatives to minimize errors through attention to detail and a strong understanding of accounting principles.
  • Review financial reports, reconciliations, and variance analyses prepared by the team.
  • Ensure adherence to financial controls, policies, and procedures while guiding the team on compliance requirements.
  • Oversee the accuracy and timeliness of financial transactions, ensuring they align with shared service center (SSC) processes, service level agreements (SLAs), and financial control frameworks.
  • Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including third parties.
  • Drive process transitions and expansions within SSC Malaysia, including acquisitions and scope enhancements.
  • Monitor and report service levels, tracking transaction volumes and performance metrics.
  • Support process improvement initiatives, automation efforts, and efficiency enhancements.
  • Manage staff engagement, motivation, and retention while fostering a positive team culture.
  • Oversee staff training, coaching, and career development in collaboration with internal training teams.
  • Balance workloads across the team, ensuring optimal resource utilization.
  • Manage asset creation, updates, and settlement rules between work breakdown structures (WBS) and assets.
  • Support asset tagging activities and ensure compliance with capitalization policies and procedures.
  • Oversee monthly asset module closing procedures and contribute to project management related to master data creation and asset capitalization.



The Successful Applicant

A successful RTR Team Lead should have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in General Ledger, Record to Report, or financial accounting roles, preferably in a shared services environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Experience in leading a team, with a focus on mentoring, coaching, and staff development.
  • Ability to analyze financial data, resolve issues, and drive process improvements.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems and automation tools is an advantage.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
