Our client is seeking an experienced Regional Legal Counsel to provide expert guidance and support on legal matters within the industrial/manufacturing sector. This position offers the opportunity to work in a regional capacity while being based in their dynamic office in Selangor.

Job Description

  • Manage legal oversight for a portfolio of jurisdictions, Business Units, and functional teams across the Asia Pacific region (excluding China), including Malaysia, with a strong emphasis on Southeast Asia and shipping/logistics matters.
  • Provide legal advice and support on commercial transactions and industrial operations and projects in the region, including mergers and acquisitions, construction projects, and joint venture arrangements.
  • Prepare, review, and support the negotiation of a broad range of commercial and industrial agreements, such as sales and distribution contracts, raw materials and goods procurement, services and logistics agreements, tolling arrangements, platform agreements, and other purchasing contracts.
  • Support the company's corporate governance framework and regional compliance initiatives.
  • Assist with government relations and public affairs matters in Malaysia.
  • Track legal and regulatory developments across the region, particularly in Malaysia, and support the delivery of legal training as required.
  • Provide legal assistance on ad-hoc and cross-regional matters as needed.



The Successful Applicant

  • Legally qualified in Malaysia and/or another Common Law jurisdiction.
  • Minimum of 7 years' post-qualification experience gained in reputable law firms and/or multinational corporations
  • Strong contract drafting skills are essential.
  • Solid experience in general corporate matters is highly preferred; the role demands a strong grasp of contract, commercial, and corporate law in a generalist capacity.
  • Industry experience in industrial, manufacturing, oil & gas or construction is an added advantage.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally as required by the role.
