My client is a renowned market leader in the high power device industry supporting across crucial industries such as the semiconductor and industrial manfuacturing industries. They are expanding their footprints in Malaysia with many transfers & project happening within the Northern Region.

Job Description

  • Conduct comprehensive failure analysis on semiconductor components using electrical, physical, and chemical techniques.
  • Operate advanced analytical tools like Scanning Electron Microscopes (SEM), Focused Ion Beam (FIB) systems, X-ray equipment, and thermal imaging devices.
  • Identify the fundamental reasons for component failures through systematic analysis and data interpretation.
  • Create detailed reports documenting analysis procedures, findings, and recommendations for improving design or manufacturing processes.
  • Work closely with design, process, and supplier engineering teams to implement corrective measures and prevent future failures.
  • Provide technical support to address customer inquiries regarding product failures and reliability.
  • Assist in negotiations with suppliers to recover costs associated with quality issues.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to refine failure analysis techniques and methodologies.
  • Stay informed about the latest advancements in failure analysis and semiconductor technology.
  • Exercise the authority to halt any process or product delivery if it deviates from customer expectations, safety standards, or environmental regulations.

The Successful Applicant

  • Strong understanding of semiconductor device physics, internal structures, fabrication processes, and reliability testing.
  • Solid knowledge of power device internal structures and fabrication processes.
  • Ability to perform DC/AC characterization and standardize analysis techniques for power MOSFET and IGBT technologies.
  • Experience collaborating with foundry engineers to validate silicon electrical performance from external foundries.
  • Knowledge of simulation techniques for structural validation.
  • Proficiency in using failure analysis tools like SEM, FIB, X-ray, and other analytical equipment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills using 8D methodology (Is-Is Not, Fishbone diagrams, Brainstorming, Affinity Diagrams, 5 Whys).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for presenting findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in relevant FAB manufacturing processes and technologies.
  • Expertise in quality tools and process/production control methods such as FMEA, MSA, SPC, DOE/Taguchi, and DMAIC.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
