Job Description

You will define and lead the merchandising vision, strategy, and execution for a large pharmacy retail network - ensuring the right products, categories, pricing, and supplier partnerships are in place to maximise growth, margins, and customer value. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing a comprehensive merchandising strategy aligned with commercial goals, customer insights, and market trends.
  • Planning, curating, and optimising product assortments across pharmacy, wellness, and health‑related categories.
  • Leading vendor management, supplier negotiations, and category development to drive margins and cost efficiencies.
  • Building and implementing robust merchandising frameworks, category plans, and lifecycle management processes.
  • Overseeing pricing, promotional planning, and stock strategies to ensure competitiveness and profitability.
  • Collaborating closely with retail operations, supply chain, and marketing to ensure seamless execution across all outlets.
  • Using data analytics to evaluate category performance, customer behaviour, and assortment effectiveness.
  • Ensuring strong governance, compliance, and quality assurance for all merchandise.
  • Leading NPD initiatives, house‑brand strategies, and differentiation opportunities for the retail network.
  • Driving continuous improvement across merchandising SOPs, systems, and processes to support rapid growth.


The Successful Applicant

A successful Head of Merchandising should have:

  • Proven experience in merchandising leadership within pharmacy, FMCG, or related retail categories.
  • Strong commercial and analytical acumen with a track record of driving margin and category growth.
  • Deep understanding of product assortment planning, vendor management, and category strategies.
  • Experience negotiating with suppliers, distributors, and brand partners.
  • Ability to balance strategic decision‑making with hands‑on operational execution.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills across retail, supply chain, and marketing.
  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to translate insights into actionable plans.
  • Entrepreneurial, agile, and able to thrive in a fast‑growing, transformation-focused environment.
