Our client is a market leader in the industry. With the rapid growth of the business, they are expanding their operations and looking to hire more talents. The company is currently hiring a legal expert to be a business partner to the commercial team.

Job Description

As this role is essential to the organization, it is vital candidate comes with a track record of delivery and proven experience. Among the many responsibilities are listed below:

  • Oversee the Legal team and performs complex legal work for and involves close association and coordination with senior management.
  • In this management role, you handle strategic leadership and work closely with legal staff in the other region business units.
  • Being responsible for setting and delivering regional strategy, based on business objectives and legal risk assessments in alignment with the larger organizational goals.
  • Provide higher visibility of legal matters and an undeniable counsel to cross-functional teams on a variety of complex issues including nuances in operating in a regulated environment with external stakeholders and regulators.
  • Monitoring and interpreting the legislative environment in which the company operates.
  • Experience with Legal support and regulatory advice relevant to the marketing function, relating to digital marketing, product claims and packaging, social media, direct to consumer activation.
  • Lead complex legal projects that span legal, business, and functional boundaries (e.g, policy changes, subject matter areas like competition law and marketing laws);
  • Being responsible for risk mitigation and governance for the factories, supporting their operations and all legal support required on legal recoveries from incidents, contracting, and guidance on product issues
  • Guiding the Company in resolving any Regulator disputes and managing regulator interventions.
  • Developing and providing training to the business in a variety of areas, including compliance.
  • Managing 2 headcounts in the region.

The Successful Applicant

The ideal Head of Legal will be confident in leading from the front and be responsible for the growth of the company while possessing the below requirements;

  • A commercial lawyer with at least 10 years of experience in the fast-moving consumer goods industry, with at least 4 of those years in a senior legal role at a multi-national food company.
  • Law degree and current certification to practice law.
  • Strong academic background.
  • Experience in advertising and media law, and experience advising big brands.
  • Experience of working in a fast paced demanding legal environment.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills (including drafting and negotiating) and organisational skills.
  • Self-motivated and driven to develop legal capabilities and understand the business.
  • Personal presence and professional ability to take ownership of projects as an individual contributor and team leader and be confident and firm with legal positions.
  • Track record of collaborating with multiple functions and demonstrating strong leadership in complex matters.
