Our client is a leading clean energy provider specializing in renewable energy solutions for the commercial and industrial sectors. With a diverse portfolio of energy solution services, they have built a strong track record, serving businesses and consumers across Malaysia, including a range of notable clients. Additionally, the company has expanded its reach nationwide and other countries by offering innovative energy solution models.

They are currently seeking a Head of Business Development to lead the BD team in local & other countries, with a focus on strategizing to drive sales growth and expanding market opportunities.

Job Description

The Head of Business Development will be reporting to the director of the organization and will be accountable for driving the overall productivity and effectiveness of the regional commercial organization locally & other countries. Amongst the many responsibilities some are listed below:

  • Oversee the Business Development department with full P&L accountability, leading both financial and customer-focused operations.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the solar industry to drive growth.
  • Manage and build a strong management team for the commercial departments, working closely with support functions and other departments to meet department goals.
  • Monitor and analyze sales performance data to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Develop expansion strategies to drive revenue growth, expand the customer base, and build a project organization to implement growth plans.
  • Establish and implement policies, procedures, and systems to ensure smooth operations and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Successfully manage the execution of client contracts, from negotiation to closure, adhering to company policies.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the industry, company products, services, and competitor offerings.
  • Establish organizational structures, staffing, and operating systems for new growth projects.
  • Implement systems and procedures to ensure business sustainability and performance.
  • Forecast sales and budgets, developing innovative strategies and models, and assess their effectiveness.



The Successful Applicant

  • A relevant degree in Engineering, Finance, or a Business discipline; an MBA is a plus.
  • At least 10 years of experience in a similar role within industrial sectors.
  • Preferred experience in a multinational company with established best practices; experience in managing renewable energy (solar) or related industries is an advantage.
  • Proven experience in business development within the renewable energy sector.
  • Business savvy with a successful track record in techno-commercial business development.
  • A strong cultural fit with the ability to embrace current values while acting as a change agent to foster the desired culture.
  • Cost conscious, performance-oriented, and committed to continuous improvement, with a high level of integrity.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, negotiation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership in promoting the company's values, vision, mission, and goals in the execution of country strategies.
  • Results-oriented and task-focused, with the capability to drive continuous improvement and uphold safety standards.
