Job Description



  • Strategic Financial Leadership:
    • Develop and execute the company's financial strategy in alignment with overall business objectives in Malaysia.
    • Provide strategic financial advice and insights to the CEO and other executive team members on key business decisions.
    • Lead the development of long-term financial plans, including funding strategies, capital allocation, and profitability targets for the Malaysian operations.
    • Analyze market trends, economic conditions in Malaysia, and competitor activities to identify potential risks and opportunities.



    Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A):

    • Oversee the development and management of the annual budget, forecasts, and long-range financial plans for the Malaysian entity.
    • Lead the financial planning and analysis team, ensuring the delivery of timely and insightful financial reports and analysis.
    • Monitor financial performance against budget and forecast, identifying variances and providing actionable recommendations for improvement.
    • Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) relevant to the Malaysian business and industry.



    Financial Reporting & Compliance

    • Ensure the timely and accurate preparation and presentation of financial statements in accordance with Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS) and relevant statutory requirements.
    • Oversee the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, ensuring compliance with local timelines and regulations.
    • Manage the tax planning and compliance function for Malaysia, ensuring adherence to local tax laws (e.g., income tax, SST).
    • Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory authorities in Malaysia (e.g., Bank Negara Malaysia, Companies Commission of Malaysia).
    • Ensure compliance with Bursa Malaysia listing requirements (if applicable).



    Treasury & Risk Management

    • Oversee the company's treasury functions in Malaysia, including cash management, banking relationships, and foreign exchange risk management (considering MYR fluctuations).
    • Develop and implement financial risk management policies and strategies relevant to the Malaysian business environment.
    • Ensure adequate insurance coverage for the company's assets and liabilities in Malaysia.



    Internal Controls & Governance

    • Establish and maintain a strong system of internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure the integrity of financial information in accordance with best practices and local regulations.
    • Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures and local legal requirements.



    Team Leadership & Development:

    • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team in Malaysia, fostering a high-performing and collaborative work environment.
    • Set clear performance expectations, provide regular feedback, and support the professional growth of team members.



    Stakeholder Management:

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including banks, investors, and regulatory bodies in Malaysia.
    • Represent the finance function in meetings with the executive team and board of directors.



The Successful Applicant

  • Minimum 10- 15 years' experience and has led a finance team of at least 5 people
  • Preferably with professional qualification such as ACCA, CIMA, CPA or its equivalent
  • Excellent leadership skills and able to motivate and develops others;
  • Aggressive, visionary and willing to take calculated risk for dynamic business growth;
  • Attentive to details, alert and capable of identifying business growth & cost saving opportunity as well as process improvement alternative;
  • Strong understanding of latest accounting standard;
  • Strong reporting and organizational skills.
