The electrical engineer will be responsible to design, deliver, and commission electrical systems for Battery Energy Storage projects. This person will handle MV/LV design and on-site execution across the full project lifecycle.

Job Description

  • Design electrical systems for BESS projects including SLDs, protection, grounding, and controls
  • Size and specify MV/LV equipment such as transformers, switchgear, inverters, and cables
  • Prepare technical drawings, documentation, and bills of materials
  • Support site installation, testing, and commissioning activities
  • Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety standards, and client requirements
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during execution and commissioning
  • Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, suppliers, and clients
  • Provide technical guidance to site teams and participate in project meetings
  • Liaise with local authorities on regulatory requirements (TNB & Suruhanjaya Tenaga)

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of experience in MV/LV design, installation, and commissioning
  • Background in renewable energy, power plants, solar PV, or similar industries preferred
  • Strong knowledge of power system design, protection coordination, IEC/IEEE standards
  • Hands-on experience with MV switchgear, transformers, protection relays, and cabling
  • Familiarity with BESS projects is highly desirable
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, ETAP, or similar electrical design tools
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
  • Team-oriented with good coordination skills
  • Willing to travel to project sites when required
