Our client is looking for a Country Manager that will be at the helm of the organization in Malaysia. This will be a key role for them in driving the success of their Malaysian entity which cuts across multiple different locations.

Job Description

Strategic Initiatives

  • Reporting to the board and regional CEO, you will establish a new team to provide strategic leadership, technical leadership, governance and oversight of our data centre operations in Malaysia.
  • Collaborate with HQ management to provide the 5-year strategic vision and operational roadmap for the Malaysia subsidiary.
  • Develop winning strategies for the data centre business to achieve growth and profitability objectives.
  • Facilitate collaboration between development management, fund management, project management, construction teams and other vertical disciplines to ensure achievement of overall business objectives.
  • Be accountable for the data centre business P&L, setting and monitoring of performance against targets, as well as implementing mid to long term strategies to continually improve performance.
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the industry by keeping up to date with macro research and market trends and applying this to relevant areas of the business.

Compliance and Operations Excellence

  • Enforce strict compliance to all local laws, regulations and in-house policies to uphold the highest standards of business ethics in all facets of our operations.
  • Manage the efficient and financially responsible utilisation of the Company's financial, organisational and human resources within defined parameters.
  • Strive for operational excellence across key processes and operational pillars in support of the Company's overall business strategy.
  • Continuously seek and implement initiatives to improve efficiency, performance and growth of the platform.
  • Foster a culture that prioritises zero-downtime, 100% SLA adherence rate and unrelenting focus on delivery of exceptional customer service.
  • Actively incorporate the Company's EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) policies in decision making process and ensure compliance across the property management spectrum.
  • Maintain vigilance to identify operational gaps and actively seeking out solutions.
  • Ensure adherence to all EHS, cyber-security and operational process training requirements.

Customer / Stakeholder Management

  • Cultivate and maintain good, long-standing relationships with key internal and external stakeholders - including customers, partners, investors, government authorities and internal organizational network to solidify the long-term success of the business.
  • Publicly represent the Company with the media and external constituency groups including industry, governmental and financial organizations

Team Management

  • Build a supportive team of direct reports to support delivery of the strategic and country-level objectives.
  • Ensure alignment with the Company's core values and operational principles - including health and safety, sustainability and diversity & inclusion.
  • Lead by example and inspire a culture of operational excellence through strategic and hands-on leadership.
  • Motivate, develop and retain talents to support the growth and success of the Company.

The Successful Applicant

Requirements:

  • Possess relevant tertiary qualifications in Business, Real Estate or Engineering, combined with advanced subject matter knowledge across multiple functions and exemplary people management skills.
  • Senior-level background in data centre operations with demonstrated track record in leading operational teams in Malaysia.
  • Knowledgeable in best management practices particularly in delivering business continuity, risk management, incident management and change control in a mission critical 24/7 environment.
  • Tenacious in resolving complex issues.
  • Experience in stakeholder management, with a strong customer focus.
  • Relevant experience in data centre development and product management will be advantageous.
  • Familiar with working in a strong corporate governance environment.
