Job Description

As this role is essential to the organization, it is vital candidate comes with a track record of delivery and proven experience. Among the many responsibilities are listed below:

  • Develop, maintain, and periodically review and update company policies, procedures and processes, relating to code of conduct, code of business ethics, whistleblowing, anti-bribery, anti-money laundering, and any other relevant policy, to prevent illegal, unethical or improper conduct
  • Manages day-to-day operation of the Compliance Program and monitors and enhances the implementation of the Compliance Program on a continuing basis
  • Collaborate with heads of business units as part of compliance programme and monitor on an on-going basis
  • Collaborate with other departments (e.g. Internal Audit and HR, and external auditors, when needed) to direct compliance issues to appropriate existing channels for investigation and resolution
  • Respond to alleged violations by evaluating or recommending the initiation of investigative procedures. Develop and oversee a system for uniform handling of such violations
  • Monitor, and as necessary, coordinate compliance activities of other departments to remain abreast of the status of all compliance activities
  • Provide reports on a regular basis, and as directed to the General Management on the operation and progress of compliance efforts, including instances of non-compliances
  • Develop an effective compliance training program, prepare training materials and run introductory and on-going training programs for directors, officers and employees on regulations and industry practices, working with the Human Resources Department and others as appropriate
  • To identify and enhance other processes, as needed, to help the company oversee, manage, and mitigate compliance risk
  • To collaborate with relevant stakeholders (e.g. Finance, Company Secretarial and Legal) and liaise with external parties on Know Your Client (KYC) and client due diligence requirements and matters

The Successful Applicant

The ideal Compliance Manager will be confident in leading from the front and be responsible for the growth of the company and must posses the below requirements;

  • Preferably a Degree in Law, Accountancy, or Business Management;
  • At least 10 years' experience in compliance, audit, legal or a regulatory compliance related role;
  • Preferably possess the relevant professional certifications in AML or regulatory compliance
  • Stakeholder management - Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with people at all levels of the organization including interfacing with directors and senior management
  • Strong project management and organizational skills and capability to handle multiple assignments at one time
  • Requires a high level of independence
  • Good communication skills, both written and spoken, in English and Bahasa Malaysia
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
